is more than her apron and cap,
and in her busy hands is the blood of history.
Her grandmother who had to hide her babies
during the war,
and a fatherless mother wracked with grief.
Her hands hold the courage of so many women
wives, lovers, friends, daughters,
women who to hold the world together,
who have all suffered for love
just so she could be here.
So be thankful for those who give their lives for love,
and for the women who hold life in their hands.
Be thankful for your coffee, her smile,
and your life,
because everyone come from stories
too detailed to tell to strangers
who don’t already understand.
